Announcements – 10/24/2019

Minor BBall The Minor Basketball Association is looking for volunteers for their Thursday evening program which runs from Oct 24 – March 12th. If you would like to earn your volunteer hours in a fun environment, please sign up outside the PE office door. The meeting for volunteers will occur tonight at 7:30pm in the large gym.
Waste Reduction Week Today’s waste reduction theme is plastic. Only a small percentage of plastic waste gets recycled. The rest is burned, goes to landfill or ends up in the environment, where it causes great harm to ecosystems around the world. You can help by using a re-usable water bottle. Bring it to the front foyer today at lunch to earn a Tim Card raffle ticket.
Picture Retakes Tomorrow! School portrait retakes will be done first-thing tomorrow morning. If you are unhappy with your original portrait, just bring it to school and exchange it at the camera for a retake. Please note that you MUST remember to bring your unwanted picture package or else you will have to pay again to have a retake – NO exceptions! ID cards will not be updated for those students having retakes. If you received free photos for donating to the food bank please keep those photos as this special promotion does not apply to retakes. Food bank donations will not be accepted on retake day. Students who were absent for the first school portrait day should plan on being photographed on Friday. Any student who requires a portrait order form can pick one up in the office.
Halloween Week Next week is Halloween Week!! Monday to Thursday enjoy a spooky fall themed photo booth in the foyer and first period door decorating (first period teachers will receive a rubric). Tuesday is sanitary apple bobbing in the foyer! Wednesday is pumpkin carving in the caf and Thursday is dress up day so get out your best costumes!!
Environment Club There will be a meeting for anyone interested in starting an environment club tomorrow at lunch in room 232. We’ll discuss the Envirothon competition, how we can make St. Marys more environmentally-friendly, and a potential project to reduce the school’s carbon footprint. See Mr. Good if you’re interested but cannot attend tomorrow.
