Youth Council Are you interested in having a say in your community and being a youth leader? The St. Marys Youth Council is actively recruiting youth to join them and help give youth a voice in our community. The group was set up with the mandate of engaging youth to find out their needs and giving them support to work on projects they feel are important. the group currently meets every two weeks at the Pyramid Centre. Anyone interested in applying, please pick up an application package in the office or contact Ciaran at the Pyramid Centre.
Charity Opportunity A family at DCVI are buying Christmas gifts for seniors who don’t have family and are alone at Christmas. Today, we are going to have candy jars for $1 per guess! We would like to raise $200 and the winner will be announced on Thursday. This event will go from Monday to Thursday this week!
Drama club There are meetings at lunch and after school today for drama club. See you there!
Curling Team If you are on the curling team and are unable to make today’s practice, please see Mr Rae or Mr Morton sometime today to get information on our upcoming bonspiel.
100 Lap Challenge Congratulations to Mrs. McEwan’s grade 7 class for winning the 100 Lap DPA challenge! They managed to complete 100 laps of the track in just 12 minutes and 5 seconds. Finishing a close second was Mr. Morton’s grade 7s with a time of 12:58. Rounding out the top 3 is Mrs. DeBrabandere’s class with a time of 13:35. The winning class gets first pick of either an afternoon of cooking, extra phys-ed time or a STEM activity. Stay tuned for details of our next DPA challenge!
Junior girls volleyball The junior girls volleyball team played in a pre-season tournament on Friday in Woodstock. Throughout the day, the team showed much improvement, especially in terms of positional play. After finishing third in their pool they won their consolation semi-final match in straight sets and then went on to a three set victory in the consolation finals against East Elgin. The team starts their Huron-Perth season on Thursday at DCVI.
DCVI Clothing Swap Hey Salukis! Do you have some old clothes that don’t fit anymore, or that you don’t love anymore? Are you looking for some new clothes to give as Christmas gifts, or even fill up your own wardrobe? Participate in the free clothing swap at DCVI Friday December 13, 2019! All you have to do is bring in some of your used clothes to receive a ticket to the swap! We are accepting clothes of any size, colour, or gender! You can bring your donations this Thursday or next Thursday at lunch, to the foyer. All leftover clothes will go to a youth shelter in Stratford! We hope to see everyone participating in the clothing swap this Christmas!
