“On Tuesday, our Intermediate Track and Field team was in action here at DCVI for our South Region Championships. It was a beauty day, and our Salukis took advantage of it.
Top three finishers from this meet move on to the Board Championships this coming Tuesday in Goderich.
All athletes competed hard, and most had new personal bests regardless of placing. Many found great success, and placed in the top three qualifying for the AMDSB Championships. We have 20 of our students moving on!
Our Top Three Finishers for our grade 7’s were as follows:
Lila Corby in the 100m, High Jump, and Triple Jump
Anna Ropp in the 200m, and 400m
Avery Jones in the 1500m
Jordanne Bulter in High Jump, and Triple Jump
And Cameron Henderson in High Jump
Our Top Three Finishers for our grade 8’s were:
Anne Griffith-Jones in the 100m and 200m
Abby Cunningham in the 200m and High Jump
Jaden Shiell in the 100m, Long Jump and Triple Jump
Jimmy Scheedle in the 200m, 400m, and 800m

And Matt Luyten in Shot Put
In addition to the individual excellence, our three relay teams demonstrated that hard work pays off. After much practice over the last couple of weeks, all three teams won their races, placing first!
With these exceptional performances, we had MANY Salukis in the top of the individual standings including some overall champions
For the grade 7 girls, Lila Corby ended up 3rd overall in points, with Jordanne Butler and Anna Ropp tied for 4th!
For our grade 8 girls, Anne Griffith-Jones and Abby Cunningham were tied for 2nd overall, with Ellen Thorup and Zoe Fadelle tied for 4th
Our domination in the grade 8 boys division was clearly evident. Jimmy Schiedel and Jaden Shiell tied for 1st with each other with 3 first place finishes each. Right behind them was Ezra Bender in 3rd and Ethan Brine in 4th. AMAZING
DCVI ended up with the most points out of all the schools and repeat as South Region CHampions!!!
Finally, records fell on Tuesday, and Salukis had a hand in it. Jimmy Schiedel broke the 400m boys record, with a time of 1:01.57. Not to be left behind, Jaden Shiell broke the Long Jump record for boys with a monster jump of 5.21m.
Congratulations to all! Extremely well done!
Mr. Morton and Ms. DeBrabandere and all our staff are so proud of everyone’s efforts, success, and sportsmanship.”
